The BioContinuum Approach.
Skin doesn't age through one single cause, and it doesn't age all at once.
Two different processes are always at work.
Intrinsic aging is the slow, genetically programmed change that happens regardless of environment. Extrinsic aging comes from outside — sun exposure, pollution, the accumulated effect of daily life on the skin's surface and structure.
For most people, extrinsic factors account for the majority of visible change over time.

The Hallmarks of Skin Aging
Dermatological research has identified several distinct biological processes behind skin aging, sometimes called the hallmarks of skin aging: oxidative stress, low-grade inflammation, the breakdown of structural support, the gradual loss of the skin's protective barrier, among others. This is established science, not something unique to Continuum, but very few products are formulated with the full picture in mind.
A different approach to designing a formula
I look at skin the way I was trained to look at any organ: understand how it works when healthy, understand the mechanisms behind what goes wrong, then address as many of those mechanisms as possible, not just the most visible one.
It's a principle borrowed from how modern medicine often treats complex conditions: several targeted approaches, each addressing a different mechanism, tend to outperform relying on one alone. I apply the same thinking here. Where many formulas rely on several ingredients doing essentially the same job, three ingredients supporting collagen through the same route, for instance, I look for actives that work through different mechanisms within the same process, so nothing in the formula is redundant.
I don't have a clinical trial proving this specific approach outperforms a single-mechanism formula. That research doesn't really exist yet in skincare. I used the same reasoning I'd apply anywhere else in medicine: first understand the full mechanism, then address as much of it as you honestly can.
The Result
Continuum was built following my medical reasoning. Rather than focusing on one visible symptom, it's designed to work alongside skin's own processes, with particular attention to the extrinsic factors responsible for most visible change. The goal isn't to fight what skin naturally does. It's to help it hold a healthier, more balanced state.
The specific ingredients, and the reasoning behind each one, are shared in full with Circle members — it's part of what membership actually includes.
